The name Hypersthene is derived from the Greek word meaning “over strength”, which attributes to it being harder than hornblende, a mineral it is often confused with. Usually, a solid black colour, when Hypersthene catches the light it shows off unique silky reflections which can look like parallel stripes, this is referred to as chatoyancy. Hypersthene is known as a problem-solving stone and helps teach us to focus not on the problems we have, but on the solutions, we must find in order to eliminate these issues.
